What Coastal Compost is
Coastal Compost is a peat-free soil improver and mulch formulated using PAS 100 certified green-waste compost as its base, screened to approximately 20mm and enriched with ingredients derived from responsibly farmed kelp.
It is designed to improve soil structure, organic matter and moisture management. It is not intended to replace every specialist compost, topsoil or growing medium.
The mature base compost typically has an alkaline pH of approximately 8.3. Natural batches can vary, so acid-loving plants may require a more suitable growing medium.

Coastal Compost is produced from recycled organic material. Colour, texture, moisture and pH can vary slightly between natural batches.

Product prices are fixed. Any applicable delivery charge is calculated from your postcode before payment. Bespoke mixtures, unusual access requirements and larger commercial orders may require a separate quotation.

Each loose-tipped load is approximately 1,300 litres. Every additional load costs less than the one before it, from £140 for the first load down to £120 per load from your fifth onwards.
Multiple 1,300L loads can be ordered together and qualify for the displayed volume discount. Each load normally requires a separate vehicle journey, so we will agree the delivery sequence with you before confirming the order.

Local delivery is included within 15 miles. For locations beyond 15 miles, an additional mileage charge of £0.65 per mile applies to each delivery journey.
Each 1,300 litre load normally requires a separate tipped delivery, unless a different bulk-delivery arrangement has been agreed with us in advance.

Why kelp is added
Kelp-derived materials contain naturally occurring minerals, trace elements and compounds commonly used in plant care to support root development, nutrient uptake and a plant's response to environmental stress.
It does not make plants salt-proof, but it is a considered addition to a compost developed with exposed and coastal gardens in mind.

Coastal Compost can form part of a raised-bed blend or be used as a generous seasonal top-up. Because it is a concentrated soil improver with a naturally alkaline pH, we do not normally recommend filling an entire deep raised bed with it alone.
For established large containers and planters, blend Coastal Compost with an appropriate growing medium rather than using it alone. Contact us if you are unsure about the correct mixture for your plants.

Read the full tipped-delivery conditions
A loose tipped load is delivered by tipper van and released in one drop. By ordering a tipped load you confirm you accept the following:
- The tipping point must be on your own property, or on land you have the owner's permission to use, we cannot tip on public land, grass verges, pavements, roads, shared access or a neighbour's property without their written permission.
- Access must be suitable for a 3.5t tipper van: a firm, level hardstanding surface with no unduly restrictive width, height, weight or turning limits, and no off-road or soft-ground approach.
- You must confirm there is enough clear space for the load to be tipped safely in one drop, we cannot barrow, spread, move or place the load once tipped.
- Someone over 18 must be present to direct the driver and accept the delivery, or you must give written instruction for the load to be left in an agreed, accessible position at your risk.
- Please keep vehicles, pets and children clear of the tipping area, and remove or protect anything that could be damaged nearby.
- The driver has final discretion on whether a tip can be completed safely. If access is unsuitable, misdescribed or blocked on arrival, or nobody is available to receive the load, we may have to return the load and a re-delivery or aborted-delivery charge may apply.
- Overhanging cables, trees, low branches and low roofs must be clear, the tipper body needs roughly 4.5m of vertical clearance.
- We are not responsible for damage to driveways, drains, lawns, paving or private roads caused by the weight of the vehicle where access has been agreed by you.
- Preferred delivery dates are requests only. We'll confirm the slot with you before dispatch and we can't guarantee timed deliveries.
